You know the actor danny glover, right? The guy from Lethal Weapon, with Mel Gibson? Umm, he might be retarded. Or maybe he has done some bad narcotics. I'm not sure exactly, but something is wrong with the guy.
This is what he said to a group of students at Texas A&M recently...
“I don’t know if you know the genesis of the right to bear arms,” he said. “The Second Amendment comes from the right to protect themselves from slave revolts, and from uprisings by Native Americans.”
“A revolt from people who were stolen from their land or revolt from people whose land was stolen from, that’s what the genesis of the second amendment is,” he continued.Seriously? He has been saying stuff like this for years, and he keeps being allowed to speak in public. This guy should be put on some kind of medication and maybe locked up somewhere safe for a little while.
This is just another fine example proving that just because someone is famous, it doesn't mean they aren't a complete moron...
Hopefully the kids who heard this - even at Texas A&M ;-) - are bright enough to know ignorant nonsense when they hear it. I wonder who decided to have him on campus to talk? And if anyone besides liberal arts majors listened to him.
ReplyDeleteFrankly, I don't know why anyone even gives these Hollywood types the time of day. It's one thing if they want to talk about how they "felt" playing a role in a particular movie, but listening to them express their political or philosophical opinions is a complete waste of time.
The roles these cretins play on camera is apparently what some people translate into a reason to listen to what they have to say. Of course, his character in "The Color Purple" was such an honorable and upstanding person that we should certainly give his speech the same value as that of men like Jefferson and Franklin.
I guess the saddest part of this is that more people are familiar with Lethal Weapon than with the Second Amendment or anything that Jefferson wrote.
Also, isn't it crazy that this cretin (Glover) isn't even aware that the start of gun control in this country was for the purpose of keeping freed slaves from being able to own or carry firearms?
